~Acrylic Paintings~

Hello everyone!

I have finally made some more art. This time I have tried acrylic painting on tiny canvases. I made a set of flower paintings, each quite different from the other.

~Pink Tulips~

The first one is a bunch of pink tulips. This was my first time painting on a canvas and it was a nice learning experience. It doesn't look too bad.

At first I did a white base on which I mixed a little bit of sap green to create the background color. After it dried, I made lines with sap green which are the stems of the flower. Initially, for the buds I used a soft pink colour, as background. After the first layer dried, I went over it with white and pink repeatedly to create the effect.

~Orange Poppies~
The second painting took a lot of time and effort to make. This must be why it turned out so well. The background on this is simply a base of white mixed with some blue.
After the background dried, I made some basic shapes in the position of the flowers. While that dried I added some stems and leaves to the canvas. On the orange base I made layers and layers of yellow, orange and red to achieve the effect in the final piece. After the flowers had long dried I added the small details and the painting was finished.
~Candy Stripe Cosmos~

This one has a similar background to the first one. There was a significant gap of time between this and the poppy painting which is why it isn't as good. The background is mostly white with a small amount of sap green.

For the flower I started with plain white paint. After drawing out the shape, I went over the outlines with pink. For the shading in the flower I used pink-purple color with some light gray and blended it with white. This effect took quite a lot of layers and tries. The middle is just a normal yellow color with a few light pink-purple dots.

The small flowers were just a later edition to make the canvas look more full.

~Pink roses~

This fourth painting was the one I completed after my exams. I had actually started it with the cosmos painting. The base is a small amount of red with lots of white. I painted basic shapes of the flowers and leaves and left it alone.
After taking it up again I tried to recreate the pink color but failed and hence just made a completely different shade and painted over it. For the outline of the flower I used crimson red.
In the leaves there is little shading with yellow and green. This is not my best painting but it's still part of the series so I am putting it here.
~All of them together~
Overall, I had fun learning the acrylic medium. I need more practice still but this was a good experience. I am planning on doing a couple more posts with acrylics.
